Afterschool for All was initiated by the
Afterschool Alliance, the Academy for Educational
Development, The After-School Corporation,
the Center for Educational Renewal, LA's
BEST, and the National Center for Community
Education. The Afterschool Alliance is coordinating
this effort with support from the Open Society
Institute.

The Afterschool Alliance is a nonprofit
organization that is working to give all
children and youth access to quality, affordable
afterschool programs, through

Academy for Educational Development
Founded in 1961, AED is an independent,
nonprofit organization committed to solving
critical social problems in the U.S. and
throughout the world through education,
social marketing, research, training, policy
analysis and innovative program design and

The After-School Corporation
TASC is a nonprofit organization dedicated
to making quality after-school programs
universally available and publicly funded
in New York City, New York State and across
the nation. Working in collaboration with
the New York City Department of Education
and other local school districts, TASC funds
programs that are housed in public schools
and operated by community-based organizations
and other nonprofits. TASC provides professional
development opportunities and intensive
technical assistance to after-school staff
to ensure quality programming. TASC also
undertakes research on after-school issues
and disseminates "best practices" nationally.

Center for Educational Renewal
The Center for Educational Renewal (CER)
was founded in 1985 by John I. Goodlad,
Kenneth A. Sirotnik, and Roger Soder to
advance the simultaneous renewal of P-12
schools and the education of educators within
the larger context of education in a democracy.
The Center is part of the Institute for
the Study of Educational Policy within the
College of Education, University of Washington,

LA's BEST After School Education, Recreation
& Enrichment Program
The mission of LA's BEST is to provide a
safe and supervised after school education,
enrichment and recreation program for elementary
school children ages 5 to 12 in the City
of Los Angeles. Created in 1988, LA's BEST
is a partnership including the City of Los
Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School
District and the private sector. To learn

National Center for Community Education
