What do Afterschool for All Partners believe?

Afterschool for All partners believe in the importance of universal access to afterschool for all youth in the U.S. Partners agree that afterschool programs:

  • Provide safe, challenging, engaging and fun learning experiences to help children and youth develop their social, emotional, physical, cultural and academic skills.
  • Work in collaboration with schools and community resources to offer children and youth an array of accessible and diverse services and opportunities.
  • Promote positive relationships among children, youth, families and adults.
  • Engage children, youth, families, schools and community partners in ongoing design, implementation and evaluation of activities.
  • Invest in diverse, skilled and committed staff.

What are the responsibilities of Afterschool for All Partners?

There are no stated requirements for being a partner in Afterschool for All. Individuals and organizations are invited to join Afterschool for All based upon a commitment to and belief in afterschool programs.

How will the Afterschool for All Partner list be used?


The Afterschool for All Partner list illustrates the broad range of organizations and sectors that believe afterschool is critical to children and their families. A list of Afterschool for All Partners will be distributed with Afterschool for All materials and press releases and appears on the Afterschool Alliance and the PAfterschool for All websites. If partners wish, we can set up a link to their websites from the Afterschool for All site, and partners are welcome to place a link to the Afterschool for All site from their own sites.

How can Afterschool for All Partners get involved in the effort for Afterschool for All?

Partners are offered opportunities to convey positive messages about afterschool, and to participate in efforts to communicate powerful, far-reaching statements about the importance of afterschool. These may include discussing the benefits of afterschool programs at events and forums; joining rallies such as Lights On Afterschool!, testifying at hearings and meeting with decision-makers; authoring guest editorials and letters-to-the-editor and appearing on news and talk shows; connecting Internet visitors to afterschool resources; and helping keep afterschool in the public purview.
